    What are you playing?

I also recently decided to play Skyrim again. It's been awhile and wanted to have an adventure again. I'd rather be playing Oblivion to be honest, but on PS5 this is the option that's easily present. I'd like to play some other stuff but haven't found a whole lot of interest as of late.

I haven't had any serious issues. I had the issue where installing a game via a PS4 disc for the upgrade (like for AC: Valhalla, for example) would ALWAYS install the PS4 version of the game too on start up. That was annoying as hell, but apparently wasn't an isolated thing either, it happened...

Good a time as any now, right?

It was a pretty fun read as a serious slasher fan. Your mileage may very. But I think it emulated the genre very well in book form. The Michael Jackson mask thing is silly and prompted me to look it up on google to see. And there are some...pretty terrifying looking MJ masks, so I'll assume it...

Well, my last book of the year it appears will be "The Last Final Girl" by Stephen Graham Jones. What a fun book! If the title to this one doesn't give what it's all about away, it's an homage to the slasher genre, most especially the classics from the 80's. After a popular teenage girl...

That one was one of the better ones I've read in a while. It can be a dense read in it's mid-section, but it was one of the absolute best examples of modern cosmic horror I've read.

This sounds right up my alley. It also reminds me a lot of The Fisherman by John Langan. Though that's a novel, not a short collection.

I really haven't played much of anything PS4 related on mine, but that does sound nice.

I haven't read that, so I can't say for sure.

Well, in the case of dark fantasy I will say this, a lot of the genre takes it's queues from The Black Company. It was an extremely influential series that unfortunately kind of slipped into obscurity over time. It's very good, and I'd highly recommend it. However, it's written in a strange...

Online doesn't bother me, I know it's basically melee Destiny, and I don't have a problem with that. It's the Randy Pitchford/Gearbox part I don't like. But they only published it, right? Not actually developed it?

Interesting suggestions, folks. When we're talking about dark fantasy, are we referring to things in the vein of The Witcher, or The Black Company here? Because that's what I like.

Maneater is a pain in the ass. Anyone play Godfall by chance? I've read a lot of mixed things about it, but it's general art direction and especially it's combat looks quite good. Hoping it's mixed to lacking reception sees it going on sale sometime soon, as I'd like to give it a whirl.

Can't say I know of a lot of stuff like that anymore, really. As when it comes to fantasy what I actually prefer is dark fantasy. I assume you don't mean high fantasy either?

It's kind of crazy that CoD: Black Ops Cold War has different trigger settings for every single gun in the game, to emulate their trigger resistance. Pain in the ass in multiplayer, but in the campaign and in Zombies it's awesome.

I've heard a few sources now, one of which was Digital Foundry talk about how the Haptic Feedback in it is a real game changer that words simply cannot do justice to. I heard stuff like this before the Switch came out, but then the reviews didn't seem to have much to say about it there. And...

I think you've got the whole of it there, really. Absolutely loved Green Room btw! I love almost any story about a band, to be honest, so long as it's done well. There's some pretty good horror with that setting. But surprisingly not as much as you'd think, especially in the realms of heavy...

You bring up an interesting point, actually. I don't think stories like The Girl Next Door are entertaining, splatterpunk in general is often not "entertaining". It's more of a morbid curiosity to see this depraved piece of work through to the end and how it concludes. I suppose some of it can...
