Word of advice on that book, don't do any research on it. Hopefully you haven't already. Go into that one as blind as you possibly can. I don't even want to try to give you a basic gist of the what the book is about. The less you know the better for that one. It's the ONLY book I've read and...

Let me help you here. (Feel free to ask any question, or for further elaboration on anything mentioned. OR for more.) Here's a list I recently recommended for someone on Dtoid proper. You like cosmic horror? If so absolutely check out "The Fisherman" by John Langan. What a killer novel. "I'm...

That's how I am with any good book, really. I read a lot of books. I've got a metric fuck ton of great recommendations if you're ever interested. Horror is my thing, most especially of the literature variety. I read it, I study it. I write it.

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

I didn't get too far into it for these reasons you just described, but I admired the realism of it all. I've considered coming back to it some day since it's so cheap now. Maybe just push through and see if it gets better. But even just typing out that sequence of events made me chuckle out...

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

I learned the hard way that Kingdom Come: Deliverance's time limits, or rather time between taking a quest, or finding out about it and then going to do it matters. It was honestly kind of hilarious when it first happened to me. As you start that game as a chump, like any random asshole off the...

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

They've gotten better in that for one, there are fewer of them. And for two the NPCs you escort usually aren't made of cardboard and actually can fight. They will also keep up with you while mounted most of the time now. (Some of them even bother to mount up when you do.) There are actually a...

Thing about that series, the first book is quite different from the rest of them. I personally like it, but it's a very different book from everything else in the series.

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

The only game I can think of, at least at the moment, that utilized Amnesia well was well, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. As it damn well better, given it's named from it. But it was the main plot device in that game, and for very good reason. The big "reveal" at the end makes the name make sense...

    screenshot thread yay

Hmm, I don't have a lot of screenshots on my PC in this room. I'll need some time to get some transferred over from my PS4. So here's this for now.

I'm between novels at the moment. I think I'll be starting "The Terror" by Dan Simmons next. I've liked Simmon's other horror stuff a lot. "Summer of Night" was incredible in particular.

Who/What is the most terrifying, BEST villain in fiction media?

He's high on my list as well. I'd say he's absolutely one of my favorites. And No Country is one of my favorite movies too!

I completely agree. I was pretty disappointed with The Outer Worlds, I liked Alpha Protocol a LOT more than it. I didn't realize others actually liked that game too. Seems a lot of people just dismissed it after shitty reviews initially.

Who/What is the most terrifying, BEST villain in fiction media?

Your definition can vary, but the only rule is that the villain is fictional. So no actor portrayals of Adolf Hitler or anything like that. It can be from a book, a movie, TV series, video games, anime, whatever you want. And it can be just personally terrifying to YOU, or what you consider to...

    Music Recommendations

I don't know how much I've talked about Falconer before, but they're one of the best underrated power metal bands to have ever existed, in my opinion. Fucking love these guys and their first album, a self-titled one is one of my favorites in the entire genre. And one more for the road...

    Best Sword in Gaming

Frostmourne. The lore behind the thing itself makes this my pick. But it does also look fittingly badass for that lore as well. It's one of the most overall destructive swords in a video game to boot. Creating a nearly apocalyptic chain of events that still has lasting impact upon the world...

On that note of Zelda...I was NOT super impressed with Breath of the Wild like most people. I didn't dislike it, but I certainly didn't finish it and sold it as well. The exploration was neat, but the complete lack of themed dungeons was probably the BIGGEST blow for me. My favorite part of the...

Imagine how I feel when I tell people in all seriousness that I think Odyssey is hands down the best game in the series. By a good margin no less. To be honest, I wouldn't give a flying shit if Ubisoft took the formula they've been doing with Origins and Odyssey and now it seems Valhalla, and...

Sometimes it just happens to be information like how entitled and or bigoted a fanbase, or at least the most vocal part of that fanbase is. Such as is the case with TLoU2!

    [SPOILEROONI][TLOU2] Killing your darlings

I didn't see any of the leaks, avoided them as much as I could. But I kept hearing the controversy. So I was expecting something. When in reality it was all so much hyperbole.

    [SPOILEROONI][TLOU2] Killing your darlings

I'm gonna level with you, I kept hearing how "controversial" the ending was, and with all the backlash about it combined with some idiot I saw on social media replying to a guy I know saying he was enjoying the game so far and said "I hope you like it when characters you love do things...
