Love a hat in time. Played through twice and agree, Nyakuza Metro is so cool. It definitely has a Gamecube vibe — Mafia Town in particular feels very (purposefully) reminiscent of Delfino Plaza.
Been gaming literally as long as I can remember. If I go back far enough to when I was maybe 3 or 4 years old, I have these abstract memories of playing SMB2, Zelda 1, and Rocky & Bullwinkle on NES. The waterfall in the first level of SMB2 is particularly engrained in my memory. I don’t recall...
Riddler trophies is a great callout, good lord those sucked.
I'm gonna go with, uh, everything in DK64. But especially all the different colored bananas. And this is coming from someone who loves collectathons.
So many. This is my first Steam sale since 2015, when I took a very lengthy break away from PC gaming.
Let's see...
Black Mesa
Maximum Action
Thief II
Prey (2017)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Deus Ex Human Revolution
DOOM (2016)
Heretic
Hexen
Hexen II
Hylics
River City Ransom: Underground
High Hell
Devolver...
The original Jak and Daxter reminded me of Banjo-Kazooie more than anything. Love that game. Don't care for the edgy sequels, but Daxter on PSP is surprisingly good.
I find myself replaying Mario 64 and the Galaxy games most often. Odyssey is excellent, but as of now I have yet to revisit it. It’s a little too fresh in my mind.
Sunshine was always the black sheep for me. Really dig the locale, yet I can’t help but feel underwhelmed.
I spent part of the weekend fiddling around with Dolphin emulator and found myself momentarily hooked on Super Mario Sunshine. Right from the start, the game grabs you. There's something beautiful about Delfino Plaza as a hub world. That earworm of a theme song, the doofus Pianta inhabitants...
Planning to stick closely to the ole PC and Switch for as long as I can hold out. Eventually looking to get a PS5, but it needs to build up a library first.
Once that banger of a theme song kicked in and the sandwich-snake appeared, only then was the full weight of the bug snack truly reckoned with. And at that point it had already stolen the show.
Big highlights for me:
Bugsnax (awarded slop dungleman's best of show)
Little Devil Inside
Deathloop
Solar Ash
yeah, ok. good:
Demon's Souls - happy to see it remastered, but a little torn on some of the artistic choices
Ghostwire Tokyo - Cautiously optimistic. Keeping an eye on this one...
So I lied and actually took a hard left turn into old school FPS territory in the form of DUSK & Amid Evil, and (somehow) Breath of the Wild again out of nowhere???
A game has to really hook me in order to finish it. The AAA games I actually beat last year were Death Stranding, Sekiro, FE: Three Houses, RE2. Maybe a few others I'm forgetting. I generally finish indie games all the time though because they're often short.
