Movies you watched with your parents

I wasn't allowed to see Big Daddy as a kid because some gay guys kissed. But they let me watch Lethal Weapon 4 two years before that. Seeing Watchmen in the theater with my aunt at 18 was incredibly uncomfortable when it got to the long, drawn out sex scene.

    What are you playing?

I love it, but the combat has aged pretty poorly.

    What are you playing?

Got back to Dark Cloud after never really playing it back in the day on my PS2. (I just occasionally watched my dad because I sucked at video games) Ice Queen is obnoxious and I do not miss the wonk of this era of games.

--Movie Thread-- Post movies you've recently seen/reviews/recommendations/ask for recommendations

I'll check it out. Actually need to rewatch Donnie Darko. Been nearly 20 years, I think. I should just say I'm looking for David Lynch inspired stuff. Weird, abstract. Sometimes a lack of resolution/catharsis. Mysteries that are never explained. I should also just go ahead and play Deadly...

No movies recently, but I finally watched The Leftovers and holy shit. Watching Watchmen now. Might have to finally try out Lost since I'm beginning to appreciate Lindelof's writing. So if anyone has any recommendations for unsettling/abstract/weird Twin Peaks type stuff, send it my way pls

    Book Club

I tend to like horror short stories/anthologies the best. I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream Born of Man and Woman Who Goes There? The King in Yellow (The story and the book) Eight O'Clock in the Morning I was spurred to read most of those after becoming obsessed with their film/tv...

    What are you playing?

Last time I attempted to extensively mod a Bethesda game, it was Morrowind and, after screwing up the install process the first time around and re-downloading everything all over again, I got a few good hours in. Then I found a missing texture on a building and spent as much time as I'd played...

Your worst "I give up" moment in games?

I just temporarily quit RDR2 after picking it back up for the first time in over a year. A few nights ago I was playing poker in-game in Saint Denis, lost, and went on a bit of a shooting spree (more of a desperate escape after shooting the one smarmy poker player in the face) racked up an...

    What are you playing?

Currently waiting on the 2 1/2 hour timer in SUPERHOT MIND CONTROL DELETE might be a bit of a spoiler (but not really), but yeah, the game locks you into a 2.5 hour long loading screen near the end. apparently it used to be 8 hours 🤯 just a heads up

I am trying to read too many things at once and succeeding at reading none of them. Up to Time of Contempt in the Witcher series, but I'm having trouble with the longer form narrative of the stuff following the short story anthologies Got as far as I Have No Mouth and I must Scream in a Harlan...

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

I still can't get past the combat in that game. Feels clunky on both PS4 and PC (PS4 10x worse). I know the whole deal is you have to actually train to be good at anything, but without any frame of reference for how it should feel to play when you're at least capable, it seems like a huge time...

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

I'd actually love to see a fantasy RPG with a fully fleshed out (and unfair) economy Like how Geralt in the Witcher books hardly ever even has money on him to buy new clothes let alone sleep in an inn or buy food.

Your worst "I give up" moment in games?

I don't remember having as much trouble with SotC on PS2 as I had with the remake. I swear they fucked the physics and made so many things stop working as they had originally. Of course I encountered most of these when doing the time trials. The sword colossus: Climbing up the intended paths...

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

Oh I could cover that, too. Throwing weapons that work as intended only when you're at correct distances, otherwise your target just gets hit with the handle and maybe gets a bruise or something. I'd more or less just want to see a developer use popular expectations for these kinds of things...

    Unpopular Opinion Thread

I just feel like there could/should have been more... reluctant decisions to make. Like having your character definitively acknowledge that they hate both of the decisions. And just a 3rd option where you try to be a good guy and get killed, game over, etc. That kind of thing would have been a...

    Unpopular Opinion Thread

I got a little bored with Outer Worlds right after release and haven't played it in... Wow, nearly a year I guess. Definitely lacked the flesh I'm used to with an open world game (especially equipment variety), the skills/perks etc felt too simple, and it didn't really have much in the way of...

    Stupid Video Game Troupes

Silencers I'm no gun expert, but it's my understanding they make no discernible difference to sound level. (Lower the decibel level, but still BANG BANG very loud) I'd like to make a shooty stealthy game like Hitman where the silencers don't actually work as everyone has become familiar with...

Your worst "I give up" moment in games?

Gods Will Be Watching A combination of outrageous RNG and bugs made it just about unplayable as far as I'm concerned I know there's an easy mode that removes the chance aspect of the game, but when you spent dozens of tries on the regular rng mode dying at the same part over and over, and...

That was the one thing I loved about streaming services. 15 years back Pandora was a big part of me getting into a lot of what I listen to now, then Last.fm to a slightly lesser extent. I can probably count on one hand the number of artists Spotify brought to my attention. Hell, Pandora was...
